In many cultures, the snake represents fertility, creativity, and the feminine. My mom believes that St. Patrick’s act, who scared all the snakes out of Ireland, may have also been a metaphor. Perhaps he scared the feminine spirituality of the Celtic goddess out of Ireland in favor of a patriarchial religion. That said, the snake is quite misunderstood and the Hopi’s have celebrated the Snake with their annual Snake Dance every year. Here’s my doodle of the day to honor the misunderstood, beautiful snake. Used Prisma-color markers.
